We had a nice visit from 40 members of  The Spessart Highlanders in Germany at the Factory for an in-depth tour of Wallace Bagpipes.

The group had a fantastic day with Production Manager Craig Munro and the Wallace Bagpipes Team, such a great time was had that a weekend workshop with the band has now been arranged with our European agent David Johnston from The Pipers Corner Shop on 16th-18th October 2009.

Many thanks to Jan, Brian and Udo for arranging the visit.

Stay tuned for our news feature on the workshop.

Champion Of Champions Solo Series Perth, Australia

May 2nd, 2009 Craig Munro No comments
Winner - Ashleigh Civellio

Learner Piping Grade Winner - Ashleigh Civellio

With a large entry for Western Australia of over 35 competitors for each of the three rounds, and the largest ever entry for the Learner Piping Grade,  it made for a very interesting aggregate final on the 2nd May with the top competitor winning a new set of Classic 2 Wallace Bagpipes.

The set of Bagpipes donated by Mr Craig Munro of Wallace Bagpipes was presented to Ms Ashleigh Civiello (pictured) as the Aggregate winner for Learner Piping after all three rounds.   It was also great to have Craig Munro out from Scotland to present the pipes in person. Craig Judged the final round in learner and was very impressed by the standard of players in that grade.

Ashleigh is a student at the Presbyterian Ladies College Perth.   Her piping instructor and family were there to witness the presentation on the night and also her fellow band members from the PLC Pipe Band that also competed in the same event.   None of the competitors or supporters knew what grade the pipes were to be presented to, so it was a very nice surprise.

The full results of the 2009 Champion of Champions Solo Series will be available online at www.ozscot.com.au

Stay tuned for next years dates.

A very big thank you to WALLACE BAGPIPES for supporting this event. We look forward to next years final and seeing Craig out once again.

Other winners on the night pictured below.

P5020042

Sub Intermediate Winner - Amelia Hewison

P5020043

Elementry Winner - Tom Beggan

Ozscot Bagpipes Supplies Workshop – Perth

Ozscot Bagpipes Supplies held a “Piping and Drumming workshop not to be missed” in Perth Australia on 2nd May 2009 in a packed out Dianella Community Centre.

The workshop lecturers were P/M Craig Munro, Master Craftsman at Wallace Bagpipes and Alistair Boyle, Drum Major of the Grade 1 Australia Highlanders Pipe Band.

Craig’s lecture entitled “Understand and Appreciate Your Bagpipes” gives a detailed insight into a bagpipes journey from the very first African Blackwood seeds being planted through to harvesting and manufacturing stage.

Alistair presented a workshop on all aspects of Pipe Band drumming including tuning, score construction and the set up of voiced/multiple pitched tenor drums that you hear in today’s top pipe band mid-sections.

Feedback from the workshop was that this was one of the most constructive and informative workshops that Perth has ever seen. Both lecturers are masters in their field and want to pass on their knowledge to the pipe band world.
